Der Vorteil eines minimalistischen Kleiderschranks ist, dass man nur alle Sommersachen schnappen muss und gepackt hat.
Ich finde nix schrecklicher als riesige Koffer, die man im Notfall nicht mal mehr selbst heben kann, wenn wo eine Rolltreppe ausfällt. Klar, im Sommer sommerlich zu verreisen ist dreizehnmal einfacher, als wenn man in die Berge fährt, für jede Wetterlage vorbereitet sein muss.
Schwieriger wird’s dann, wenn es um die Nichtkleidungsstücke geht. Zeichenutensilien, Buch, ipad, Laptop. Aber auch da werde ich entspannter. Die letzten Jahre hab ich im Urlaub wenig Lust auf Zeichnereien gehabt. Und im Notfall gibt es irgendwo Skizzenhefte und Stifte zu kaufen. Also ein paar wenige heute in den Koffer, was sich halt noch ausgeht und los geht’s.
Da ich mich nicht schminke, nicht mal ein bisschen, bin ich im Badbereich immer schnell ausgestattet.
Aus meiner Geldbörse räume ich immer alle nichtbrauchbaren Karten raus. Kundenkarten und so Quatsch, den man im Ausland nie braucht. Hauptsache Kreditkarte und Co sind drin.
Und am Ende, wenn der Koffer zu ist, denke ich mir: Ich fahre nicht in ein Dritte-Welt-Land. Was ich nicht habe, kann ich nachkaufen. Dann checke ich am Weg zum Flughafen noch 47x, ob ich den Pass dabei habe und es kann losgehen. Einmal habe ich übrigens in Glasgow am Flughafen meinen Passe mit Boardkarte am WC liegen gelassen. Das war sowas von gar nicht lustig. Aber es ist alles gut gegangen. Als ich zurück am WC war, hatte den schon jemand zur Info irgendwo gebracht, die brachten ihn zum Gate… Im Notfall sollte ich also heute nach all den Coronaimpfungen intus auch ohne all dem Quatsch durch die Kontrollen gelangen.

I just don’t like those huge suitcases you can’t even lift if an escalator is not working. Sure it’s easy in the Summer traveling summery, more dificult when you go hiking in the mountains or such. But I’m not doing this anyway at the moment.
It gets a bit more complicated when it comes to my creative stuff. Drawing stuff, pens, notepads, books, ipad, laptop… But I am more relaxed with that too now. I realized that I am not drawing that much when traveling and if so… I can always buy a pen and paper somewhere. So today it’s only my journal, a notepad and a few good pens. I’ll look for a good book on the airport.
Since I don’t put any make up on ever bath utensils aren’t that many. That’s always easy.
I’ve emptied my wallet, don’t need to carry all those cards for all shops over here. Credit card and off you go.
And in the end, when the suitcase is closed I still think: Do I have everything? Is it all in there? Ah well, I am not traveling to a third world country. I can buy whatever I may have forgotten. On my way to the airport I will check if I have my passport like 47 times and off I go. I once lost my passport and boarding ticket on a toilet at Glasgow airport. Like 20min before boarding. That wasn’t funny. But it ended good, I went to get it, it was gone by the time I got there, someone had taken it to information and they brought it to the gate. All good but yeah, my blood pressure may have been a little higher than usual for those moments. And to be honest – I thought will all those corona vaccinations in I thought the passport is not that important anymore anyway?
